Outdoor Saunas Melbourne
Choosing between outdoor saunas in Melbourne means thinking about your backyard, your household and how often you plan to use it. Cedar & Stone designs its outdoor range around two shapes, the cedar barrel and the larger cube. You are welcome to compare them side by side at our Bayswater showroom, 3/38 Corporate Boulevard, which opens by appointment.
Below you will find current pricing, the key build details and a checklist to work through before placing an order.

Why the barrel build suits a backyard
Each of our barrel saunas is made from sustainably sourced Western Red Cedar. The timber is thick and insulating, and it has a natural resistance to insects, decay and moisture, which matters for a structure that lives outside through Melbourne's changeable seasons. It also carries a pleasant aroma once warm.
The staves lock together with a groove-and-socket joint, and stainless steel bands hold the shape firm. Inside, curved walls help heat move around the space, while a tempered glass half window at the rear lets in light. A 6kW Harvia electric heater with 20kg of Harvia stones handles the heat, with a Harvia Vega upgrade offered on selected models.
Choosing the right size for your household
Capacity is the first filter most buyers use. The Ashfall, Ember and Aura are listed for two to four people, which suits couples or small families who bathe together occasionally. The Ember XL and Hybrid step up to four to six, giving extra bench room for friends on a weekend.
At six to eight people, the Vintara and Cedara are for those who entertain often or want space to stretch out. Bigger rooms take longer to warm, so consider how quickly you want the sauna ready after switching it on. Ask our team what heat-up time to expect from the model you have in mind.
Budget also shapes the choice. The Ashfall is the most affordable outdoor barrel, while the Cedara sits at the top of the outdoor range. If you want to see everything we sell in one view, open the full catalogue.
Planning your outdoor sauna
A little preparation makes delivery and setup far smoother. Before ordering, work through these points:
- Base and placement. You will need a level, stable surface. Ask our team what base preparation suits your chosen model.
- Footprint and clearance. Measure carefully, including the path from the street. Ask us for exact dimensions before you settle on a spot.
- Electrical work. A 6kW heater needs a suitable supply, so ask our team for the power requirements and involve a licensed electrician early.
- Council approval. Check your local planning rules for garden structures, as requirements vary between councils.
- Porch or no porch. On the Ashfall, a porch gives a sheltered entry, while the no-porch version is more compact.
- Weather exposure. Think about wind, shade and drainage around the site so the sauna is pleasant to use all year.
