Harvia heaters and heater stones

The heart of any traditional sauna is its heater. Our barrel models run a 6000W Harvia electric heater loaded with 20kg of Harvia heater stones. The stones store heat and release it steadily, and when you pour water over them they produce the soft steam, known as löyly, that defines the experience.

Selected models offer an upgrade to the Harvia Vega. Ask us in the showroom how the standard heater and the Vega differ in look and controls. Ask our team for heater specifications on the Cedara and Vintara cubes.

Barrel or cube for a traditional sauna?

Barrels are made from sustainably sourced Western Red Cedar, a thick, insulating timber with natural resistance to decay, insects and moisture. Their curved interior helps heat travel evenly, and stainless steel bands secure the groove-and-socket staves. A tinted glass half window at the back completes the design.

Cubes offer more seating, with both models listed for six to eight people. The Cedara is a cedar cube, and the Vintara offers the same six to eight person capacity at a lower price. Our cedar cube saunas page explores that format in more detail.

Standard heater or Harvia Vega?

On the Ember, Aura and Ashfall, the Harvia Vega adds between A$500 and A$600 to the price. The Ember XL is listed at the same A$8,990 whichever heater you pick, which makes that decision purely about preference. Both options on the Ember are rated at 6kW.
